Order Type

Bracket Order — Definition & Example

An entry order paired with a stop-loss and take-profit, all submitted together.

Bracket orders combine three orders into one workflow: an entry order, a stop-loss, and a take-profit. When the entry fills, the bracket activates the stop and target as an OCO pair. This forces the trader to define stop and target before entering, addressing the common error of entering "to see how it goes" with no exit plan.

Example

Bracket buy at ₹500 with stop ₹490 and target ₹520. When the entry fills, the OCO of ₹490 stop and ₹520 target activates immediately. Trade is fully managed before any further attention is needed.
